IEP goal

Given a list of 10 CVC words, Hector will decode and blend each word aloud with 80% accuracy on 3 out of 4 trials.

Mastery: 80% (8 of 10 words read correctly) on 3 of 4 trials.

How to give the probe

Present the list of 10 words one at a time. Wait for Hector to read each word aloud before moving to the next. Mark the word as correct if he blends and says the whole word correctly; mark it incorrect if he guesses, skips, or says a different word. Do not provide prompts or corrections during the trial.

Scoring

A word is correct only if Hector orally produces the exact CVC word with no self-correction.

  • Watch for adding an extra 'uh' sound at the end of the word.
  • If Hector struggles with the 'sh' blend, use a form that avoids 'sh' words to keep difficulty consistent.
  • Ensure the font is large and clear (18pt or larger) to avoid visual processing issues.
